Embroidery on leather is an old technique performed mainly by women artisan from the the High Atlas mountains in Morocco.

There are several types of embroideries in Morocco;

Embroidery on the face side of the leather, the other is performed on the back of the leather and when it is returned , gives a stuning design.

For the first, the leather is stamped with a specially designed and manufactured die and hand embroidered.(See Latefa at work

Or the second, it was once used to sew two pieces of leather together. Used in the past to decorate the satchels of Moroccan merchants.

In the Larah collections, this way of joining the useful with the pleasant is maintained, we modernize the motifs and use this stitching for the most fragile places of the article in question (as handles for some articles).
